PROVO, Utah — BYU track and field will compete at San Diego for the Aztec Invitational March 21-23 and the University of Southern California for the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational March 23. 

Coach Tiffany Hogan will take her jumps and multis group to compete at the Aztec Invitational in the decathlon, heptathlon and open events on Saturday.

Meet Schedule

Thursday action will kickoff at 11:30 a.m. MT with the men's decathlon 100-meters and conclude at 6:15 p.m. with the men's decathlon 400m.

Friday will begin with the decathlon 110m hurdles at 10 a.m. and will finish at 3:30 p.m. with the 1500m.

Saturday starts at 10 a.m. with women's javelin and will conclude with the men's 4x400m at 6:15 p.m.

"I am excited to have our opener for the heptathlon and decathlon. The group competed well this last weekend so we should see some very good marks and PR‘s in San Diego" said Hogan. "It is also our outdoor season opener for our pole vaulters and are looking to continue improving on the indoor performances."

The program will be represented in multiple events on day two of the competition. Women's javelin will start at 1 p.m. MT, followed by the men's at 3 p.m. MT. The men's steeplechase will start at 12:45 p.m. MT. The men's 800m will begin at 2:35 p.m. MT.

The men's steeplechase will feature three Cougars who have yet to compete in the event. Sophomore Caleb Johnson will make his debut alongside true freshmen Isaac Hedengren and Wyatt Haughton.

"We are very excited for this weekend because it will give an opportunity for our new steeplechasers a chance to open up in a non-pressure situation," said director of track and field Ed Eyestone. "We have a strong group with them and our mid-distance crew, as well as a few of our javelin throwers who will be competing. I am still fully expectant of some regional qualifying marks coming out of the meet for us."

Up next, BYU will travel to Austin for the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays March 27-30, Orem for the Utah Valley Invitational March 28-29 and Stanford for the Stanford Invitational March 29-30.
