MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — BYU women’s swimming improved its team score to 558.5 with all-conference performances from Alexia Jackson and Mackenzie Lung, along with 48 points from its 200 free relay squad in the fourth day of the 2024 Big 12 Swim and Dive Championships on Friday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.
Jackson posted a 259.40 to take seventh in the women’s platform championship over host West Virginia’s Sara Haggerty and Abigail Sullivan. This secured Jackson an All-Big 12 Second Team spot along with 23 more points for the Cougars.
Mackenzie Lung clocked a personal-best 1:00.30. in the 100 breast preliminary to reach the event’s championship final. There, Lung went 1:00.90 to take eight and another All-Big 12 Second Team honor.
Halli Williams, Julia Bartell, Lily Flint and emergent freshman Tatum Cooley went to work for 48 points as the day wound to a close with the 200 free relay final. Williams started strong with a 22.94 leadoff. Cooley bookended the race with 22.89 in the anchor 50 as the Cougars finished sixth at 1:32.04.
Colette Masino, Abi Furqueron, Addison Richards and Liza Slade also competed for BYU on Friday, with Richards and Slade each recording personal bests in the 100 breast and 100 back, respectively.
The Cougars will look to build on their fifth-place spot in their final day of competition in Morgantown on Saturday.
