BYU takes on Boise State at NCAA Regionals

BYU women’s gymnastics heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas to face the Boise State Broncos for its 11th-straight NCAA Regionals appearance Wednesday evening at Bud Walton Arena.

PROVO, Utah – BYU women’s gymnastics heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas to face the Boise State Broncos for its 11th-straight NCAA Regionals appearance Wednesday evening at Bud Walton Arena. 

The winner of Wednesday’s dual meet will go on to compete against No. 2 LSU, No. 15 Minnesota and Oregon State on Thursday, Apr. 4 at 7 p.m. CT.

Team Highlights

At the Big 12 Championship

  • Senior Anna Bramblett tied for the third-highest bars score at the Big 12 Championship with a 9.950, a new career high

  • Freshman Ava Jorgensen earned a new career-high score on bars with a 9.825

  • Rollins scored a team-high 9.900 on beam

  • Eaquinto scored above a 9.825 on all three events she competed in (9.825 on bars, 9.900 on floor and 9.850 on vault) 

SERIES HISTORY. The Cougars lead the all-time series against the Broncos, 45-37, dating back to 1979. The two teams last faced off in the first round of the NCAA Regional competition last year, when Boise State knocked off BYU 196.700-196.125.

COUGARS. No. 32 BYU is coming off a season-high 197.050 and third-place finish at its first-ever Big 12 Championship in Norman, Oklahoma on Saturday, Mar. 23. Facing tough opponents such as No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 8 Denver, the Cougars stayed consistent in all four events, counting zero falls on the evening. BYU finished its first season in the Big 12 conference with a record of 11-15, going 3-5 in conference matchups.

BRONCOS. No. 29 Boise State finished its season with a first-place finish at the inaugural Mountain West Championship with a final score of 196.550. Senior Emily Lopez was announced as MW Gymnast of the Year and head coach Tina Bird was named MW Coach of the Year. Lopez was also named Bars Specialist of the Year, while Adrianna Popp earned Co-Beam Specialist of the Year. The Broncos finished their 2024 season with a 20-5 overall record, going undefeated, 5-0, in conference meets.
