NORMAN, Okla. — BYU softball dropped game one of its series at No. 1/2 Oklahoma, 8-0 in five innings at Love’s Field on Thursday night.
The Cougars (21-18, 4-12 Big 12) saw just two base runners in the game, while the Sooners recorded nine hits, scoring seven of their eight runs on three home runs.

Starting pitcher Chloe Temples got out of a two-on, two-out jam in the bottom of the first, earning a fly out to center with Violet Zavodnik ranging to her right to secure the snag.
Oklahoma got on board in the second inning with a two-out walk, double and homer to left field, going in front 3-0.
The Sooners homered again in the third, a solo shot to left center, making it 4-0 in favor of the home team.
After going down in order in the first four innings, Lily Owens landed a single through the left side in the top of the fifth, BYU’s first base runner of the game. Keila Kamoku walked to get two runners aboard, but a strikeout ended the inning.
Oklahoma wrapped things up in the bottom of the fifth with three singles and another home run, walking it off for a run-rule win.
