STILLWATER — No. 5 seed BYU women's tennis swept No. 12 seed Iowa State 4-0 Wednesday evening to advance to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championship. They will face No. 4 seed Texas Tech tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
The victory improved the Cougars' overall record to 17-6, extending their winning streak to three straight matches.
Bobo Huang, ranked No. 114, clinched the victory for BYU with her singles win, improving to 16-5 on the year by defeating Iowa State's Anna Kuearum, 6-4, 6-4.
Kaavya Sawhney secured her fifth singles victory of the season, defeating the Cyclones' Juliette Nask, 6-0, 6-2.
Huang and Sawhney clinched the doubles point for BYU, winning in a quick 6-0 match for their 15th victory together as a doubles tandem this season.
Iowa State, playing with only five players due to injuries, resulted in a No. 3 doubles forfeit and a No. 6 singles forfeit, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead to start the match.

Huang and Sawhney jumped out to a 2-0 lead, with Huang's later break point at the net extending their lead to 3-0. An error from Iowa State widened the Cougars' lead to 5-0 before Huang and Sawhney secured the doubles point for BYU with a 6-0 victory.
Astle and Kovick held a 3-1 lead, later extending to 5-3 before the match was left unfinished.
