PROVO, Utah — BYU baseball is set to conclude its eight-game homestand with a rivalry matchup versus Utah at Miller Park on Tuesday, April 23 followed by a Big 12 weekend series at Oklahoma State April 25-27.

WEEK TEN REVIEW
The Cougars went 1-3 on the week with an 8-2 win over Utah Tech on April 16 followed by a trio of losses to Oklahoma April 18-20.
BYU sophomore third baseman Easton Jones continues to compile impressive offensive numbers. Jones leads BYU in runs (25), hits (44), total bases (85), home runs (11) and slugging percentage (.620). The sophomore from Lehi, Utah also holds team-long streaks in hits (12 games) and reached base (29 games).
Eight of Jones’ 11 homers on the season have come in Big 12 play. Jones and Texas’ Max Belyeu enter the week tied for the league-lead in homers versus Big 12 competition.
BYU catcher Collin Reuter leads the team in batting average at .325 while posting 23 runs, seven doubles, six bombs and 29 RBI. Reuter is also tied for the Big 12 lead in baserunners caught stealing with 11.
Designated hitter Kuhio Aloy leads the Cougars with 31 RBI on the season and tops the Big 12 with five sacrifice flies in league play.
Second baseman Crew Robinson anchored the BYU defense with eight assists versus Oklahoma on April 19. Robinson’s eight versus the Sooners are tied for the most in a Big 12 game this season. Only Kaelen Culpepper of Kansas State ranks ahead of Robinson’s 104 in the Big 12 individual assist standings.
Cougar closer Stone Cushing recorded a season-long outing with three innings pitched versus Oklahoma on April 20. Cushing leads BYU in ERA (2.29) and games finished (16) and continues to co-lead the Big 12 with seven saves in 2024.
KNOW THE FOE
UTAH: BYU and Utah meet for the 380th time on Tuesday and the second meeting in 2024. With a 7-3 win over the Utes on April 9, the Cougars earned their 250th win in the series and lead 250-128-1, including 128-54 in Provo since record keeping began in 1948.
BYU first baseman Cooper Vest went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI as the Cougars scored four in the eighth to beat Utah in the first meeting two weeks ago at Smith’s Ballpark in Salt Lake City. The Cougars and Utes played twice at Miller Park in 2023 with the BYU winning the first 7-0 on March 14 and Utah the second 29-14 on April 18.
After a 22-32-1, 11th-place Pac-12 finish in 2023, the Utes were picked to finish this season 10th in the Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll. Third-year head coach Gary Henderson has Utah off to a 26-12 (11-7) start and tied for second in the Pac-12 with No. 22 Oregon. Since their loss to the Cougars, the Utes have conference series wins over Washington (8-6, 8-13, 14-3) and Arizona State (10-0, 3-8, 11-5) along with a 27-4 midweek win over Utah Valley.
Outfielder Kai Roberts leads Utah in batting average (.371) and RBI (42) while infielder Core Jackson holds a team-leading 42 runs scored. The Utes’ pitching staff is led by lefty Bryson Van Sickle’s 2.64 ERA and 3-0 record in 10 appearances.
NO. 19 OKLAHOMA STATE: The Cougars and Cowboys will face-off in their 20th all-time meeting on Thursday. Oklahoma State leads the series 14-5 with the most recent meeting coming in a three-game series at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas in 2022. BYU took one of three games (8-6, 0-3, 5-8) versus the then No. 6-ranked Cowboys.
The first all-time meeting came in a 7-5 Oklahoma State win on Feb. 22, 1979 at the Desert Baseball Classic in Las Vegas. The Cougars’ last win in Stillwater came in a 9-8 decision on March 2, 2005.
In 2023, Oklahoma State went 41-20 (15-9), won a share of the Big 12 regular season title and achieved a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Dallas Baptist in the Stillwater Regional.
The Cowboys are led by 12th-year head coach Josh Holliday (429-233-2) and are off to a 26-14 (11-7) start, including 15-5 at home. Oklahoma State ranks second behind only Oklahoma in the Big 12 standings after starting the season picked to finish third. The Cowboys fell to Kansas State (5-6, 2-7, 6-4) in two of three games in Manhattan April 19-23. Oklahoma State’s Big 12 slate also includes a sweep of Cincinnati and series wins over Oklahoma, West Virginia and TCU.
The Cougars and Cowboys share a common nonconference opponent in Utah Tech. BYU has two wins over the Trailblazers this season (11-6, 8-2) while Oklahoma State split a pair of games with Utah Tech (8-9, 12-2) on March 5-6.
Sam Garcia, Brian Holiday and Robert Cranz lead a Cowboy pitching staff with the Big 12’s second-best team ERA of 4.33. Garcia is the Big 12’s second leader in strikeouts (75) and ranks seventh in ERA at 3.42. Holiday leads the league in innings pitched (66.1) and ranks ninth with a 3.53 ERA. Cranz’s 20 appearances also rank second in the Big 12.
Oklahoma State’s batting order is highlighted by outfielders Carson Benge’s team-leading 36 RBI and Zach Ehrhard’s 43 runs scored.
