No. 36 BYU to Face No. 23 Oklahoma, No. 8 Texas to Finish Road Schedule

No. 36 ranked BYU women's tennis concludes its Big 12 road slate this week with matches against No. 23 Oklahoma on Thursday and No. 8 Texas on Saturday.

PROVO, Utah — No. 36 ranked BYU women's tennis concludes its Big 12 road slate this week with matches against No. 23 Oklahoma on Thursday and No. 8 Texas on Saturday.

The Sooners match is scheduled for 4 p.m. MDT Thursday, and the Longhorns match starts at 11 a.m. MDT Saturday. Fans can follow @byuwtennis on social media for live updates and visit byucougars.com for match results.

No. 36 BYU Notes:

  • Head coach Holly Hasler is in her sixth season with a record of 72-51. Assistant coach Gabby Curtis is in her third season.
  • The Cougars are 14-4 (6-3, Big 12) this season, and are coming off two ranked victories over No. 31 Baylor (4-3) and No. 54 TCU (4-3) last week. 
  • Bobo Huang (13-3) leads BYU in singles victories with 13 and picked up two singles wins at No. 1 last week. 
  • Tina Li (11-6) is second on the team in singles victories with 11 wins and picked up a victory in No. 2 singles over the No. 31 Bears last week. 
  • Kara Wheatley secured a singles victory over the No. 54 Horned Frogs last week, improving her record in 2024 to 9-6.
  • Kendall Kovick (8-8) and Emilee Astle (8-3) both have eight singles victories each this season.
  • The Cougars have secured the doubles point in 17 of the 18 matches they have played this season. 
  • The doubles team of Wheatley and Li is currently is currently 12-1 on the season.
  • Huang and Kaavya Sawhney's doubles record stands at 12-3 for the year, tied for the team lead in doubles victories. 
  • Astle and Kovick are ranked No. 53 nationally as a doubles tandem. The duo has a 7-4 record in 2024 together. 
  • Huang is currently ranked No. 105 in singles nationally.
  • BYU is ranked No. 36 in the country.
  • The Cougars have four victories over ranked opponents this season.
  • BYU's six Big 12 victories in 2024 are tied for the most conference victories in a season under head coach Holly Hasler since she began leading the program in 2018.

No. 23 Oklahoma Notes:

  • The Sooners are 12-5 overall, including 7-2 in Big 12 play with wins over Iowa State (7-0) and No. 50 Kansas (7-0) last week. 
  • Oklahoma is currently on a two-match win streak. 
  • The Sooners finished last season with a 22-10 record and were undefeated at home, 16-0.
