No. 44 BYU women's tennis concludes its regular season this week with Big 12 matches against Cincinnati on Thursday and West Virginia on Saturday, celebrating Senior Day.

PROVO, Utah — No. 44 BYU women's tennis concludes its regular season this week with Big 12 matches against Cincinnati on Thursday and West Virginia on Saturday, celebrating Senior Day.

The match against the Bearcats is set for noon Thursday, and the match against the Mountaineers starts at 11 a.m. MDT Saturday on Senior Day. Fans can follow @byuwtennis on social media for live updates and visit byucougars.com for match results.

No. 44 BYU Notes:

  • Head coach Holly Hasler is in her sixth season with a record of 72-53. Assistant coach Gabby Curtis is in her third season.
  • The Cougars are 14-6 (6-5, Big 12) this season, and are coming off losses against No. 23 Oklahoma (6-1) and No. 8 Texas (6-1) last week. 
  • Bobo Huang (13-5) leads BYU in singles victories with 13.
  • Tina Li (11-8) is second on the team in singles victories with 11 wins. 
  • Kendall Kovick (9-8) picked up a ranked singles victory over No. 23 Oklahoma last week. The junior defeated the Sooners' No. 97 Alina Shcherbinina, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. 
  • Maddy Smith improved her singles record to 6-3 with her victory over No. 8 Texas last Saturday. The Henderson, Nevada native defeated Texas' Shachf Lieberman 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7). 
  • Senior Emilee Astle sits at 8-5 in singles on the year. 
  • The doubles teams of Kara Wheatley/Li and Kaavya Sawhney/Huang are both 12-3 on the season.
  • Astle and Kovick are ranked No. 52 nationally as a doubles tandem. The duo has a 7-5 record in 2024 together. 
  • Huang is currently ranked No. 120 in singles nationally.
  • BYU is ranked No. 44 in the country.
  • The Cougars have four victories over ranked opponents this season.
  • BYU's six Big 12 victories in 2024 are tied for the most conference victories in a season under head coach Holly Hasler since she began leading the program in 2018.
  • The Cougars are currently ranked No. 7 in the Big 12. 

Cincinnati Notes:

  • The Bearcats are 8-12 overall, including 1-10 in Big 12 play with losses against Iowa State (4-3) and No. 56 Kansas (6-1) last week. 
  • Cincinnati is currently on a two-match loss streak. 
  • The Bearcats finished last season with an 8-14 record and were 2-9 on the road. 
  • Head coach Eric Toth is in his tenth season leading the program.
  • Cincinnati is currently ranked No. 12 in the Big 12.

This will be the first all-time meeting between both programs. 

West Virginia Notes:

  • The Mountaineers are 14-9 overall, including 3-8 in Big 12 play with a loss against No. 56 Kansas (5-2) and a win over Iowa State (4-1) last week. 
  • West Virginia finished last season with an 11-12 record and were 3-6 on the road.
  • Finished ninth in the Big 12 in 2023. 
  • The Mountaineers are currently ranked No. 11 in the Big 12. 
  • Head coach Miha Lisac is in his eleventh season with the Mountaineers.
