IRVING, Texas — BYU women's golfers Berlin Long, Sunbin Seo and Alexa Udom were named to the 2024 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team for their accomplishments on the course and in the classroom, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Long was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2024 with a 3.75 GPA in the pre-business program. The sophomore appeared in eight events during the 2023-24 campaign while posting a 76.61 scoring average. Long earned two top-25 finishes at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational and the Causeway Invitational.
Udom appeared in seven events for the Cougars, earning two top-25 finishes during the 2023-24 season. The junior is studying biology and holds a 3.64 GPA. During her junior season, Udom notched a 75.37 scoring average.
Seo teed it up in four events last season, earning a top-25 finish at the Dale McNamara Invitational. The pre-business major holds a 3.92 GPA and recorded a 74.83 scoring average in 2023-24.
The Big 12 Conference named 1,298 student-athletes to the 2024 Spring Academic All-Big 12 Team who participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled events while maintaining a 3.00 GPA or higher. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
BYU completes the 2023-24 athletic year with 197 total academic all-conference honorees, 193 of which were awarded by the Big 12. Women’s track and field (27), women’s swim and dive (24) and football (23) led all sports in academic recognitions. After 57 and 58 Big 12 honorees in Fall and Winter, respectively, the Cougars’ Spring all-academic teams totaled 78 athletes.
Bella Folino of women’s soccer, Eliza Millar-Crossman of women’s gymnastics and Chloe Temples of softball earned the Cougars' most prestigious individual academic accolades in 2023-24. Folino was recognized with the NCAA’s Elite 90 Award at the College Cup while Millar-Crossman and Temples claimed Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year awards in their respective sports.
