ATLANTA — BYU women's basketball was one of 112 teams honored in the 2023-24 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Honor Roll, the organization announced on Thursday.

"I am really proud of my women for the work they did in the classroom as well as on the court last season," said head coach Amber Whiting. "As a coach, basketball is obviously a major priority but I also want my women to excel in their studies and prepare themselves for life after basketball and my team did a great job of that this year."

The Cougars notched a team 3.178 team GPA to become one of nine Big 12 institutions honored on Thursday. Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, UCF and West Virginia also received WBCA distinction for the 2023-24 season.

“The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women’s basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom,” said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew.  “The 112 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!”
