DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — Former Cougar Gabi Garcia Fernandez and the U.S. Men’s National Team earned a silver medal at the 2024 NORCECA Pan American Cup after dropping a match to Canada 3-1 (26-24, 26-24, 26-28, 25-19) in Sunday’s final at the Professor Ricardo Gioriber Arias Volleyball Palace in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The silver medal marked the best U.S. finish since also taking silver at the 2014 Pan American Cup. Garcia Fernandez led all players with 18 kills and 20 points, adding a pair of blocks.

He was also named the AVCA National Player of the Year in 2020 after the season was cancelled with six matches remaining in regular season due to COVID-19 pandemic. He has the fifth-most kills in BYU men's volleyball history with 1,326 and holds the second-most aces with 181.
