MOBILE, Ala. — BYU defensive end Tyler Batty and quarterback Gerry Bohanon were named Wednesday to the watchlist for the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, held annually for the past 75 years in Mobile, Alabama, following the conclusion of the college football season.

The Senior Bowl showcases the best NFL Draft prospects and is considered one of the first steps in the draft process each year.

In early July, Batty was one of 30 players selected to the 2024 Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team by media representatives who cover the league. The senior from Payson, Utah, was also named preseason All-Big 12 First Team by Athlon Sports, Phil Steele and College Football Network. In addition, he was selected to the watchlist for several national awards including the Rotary Lombardi Award, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Chuck Bednarik Award.

Batty is coming off a junior season where he earned All-Big 12 Second Team accolades, while being named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Honorable Mention and Defensive Lineman of the Year Honorable Mention. He led the Cougars for a third straight year in sacks, picking up 5.5 with nine total tackles for loss. He finished the 2023 season with 57 total tackles to lead the defensive line and had eight quarterback hurries, while also forcing two fumbles and recovering another.

Off the field, Batty earned a spot on the prestigious 2023 AFCA Allstate Good Works Team, which is awarded annually to 11 FBS players that excel on the field and are exemplary in their service to the community.

Bohanon joined the BYU football team in the offseason after successful years at Baylor (2018-21) and South Florida (2022-23). In 2021, the 6-3, 225-pound dual-threat quarterback led the Bears to a 12-2 record, a Big 12 Championship and a 21-7 win over Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and was a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

After four seasons and 27 games at Baylor, he transferred to USF where he started the first seven games of the 2022 season before suffering an injury that ended his season and kept him out of the 2023 campaign as well.

In early August, College Sports Communicators in association with The Associated Press and the Fiesta Bowl Organization, named Bohanon a candidate for the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award. Presented annually since 2018, the award recognizes college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness or other challenging circumstances.

Bohanon is a three-time Big 12 All-Academic Team selection and has been on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll eight times. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Baylor and is finishing his master’s in sports pedagogy at South Florida.

The 2025 edition of the Senior Bowl will take place at South Alabama’s Hancock Whitney Stadium on Feb. 1 and will be broadcast live on NFL Network.
