PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s golf released the schedule for its 2024-25 campaign on Friday, the Cougars' second season in the Big 12 Conference.

“We’re excited to play in some new events this year,” said head coach Bruce Brockbank. “It’s always a goal to be in contention to win tournaments coming down the last nine holes, and with this group of guys, we want to be in contention each week. I’m going to challenge the team to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

This year, the Cougars will return seniors Cole Ponich, the 2024 Utah Amateur Champion, and Zac Jones, who is ranked No. 76 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). Juniors Tyson Shelley and Simon Kwon each redshirted last season and will be staples in the BYU lineup. Angus Klintworth and Peter Kim are entering their sophomore seasons and will be joined by freshmen newcomers Kevin Wu and Jackson Mauss.

“This is an exciting season for Coach Brockbank and myself,” said golf director Todd Miller. “We have put together a lineup of players who are seasoned and know how to win. Just being around these guys, you can sense their confidence and anticipation. It’s nice to have a group of student-athletes who you know will put in the work to be great in every aspect of their lives.”

BYU’s season will commence Sept. 16-17 in Cincinnati, when the Cougars compete at the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by fellow Big 12 member University of Cincinnati. Two weeks later, they’ll head to Fayetteville, Arkansas alongside the BYU women’s golf team and participate in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.

In October, the Cougars head to Hockley, Texas from Oct. 7-9 for the Big 12 Match Play at Houston Oaks Country Club. From the 21-23, they’ll play in Monterey, California in the Leadership and Golf Collegiate to conclude the fall season.

Following a three-month hiatus, BYU will go to Tucson, Arizona to play in the Arizona Intercollegiate on Feb. 3-4. The Cougars will then head to Hawaii to tee it up at the John Burns Intercollegiate at the Ocean Course at Hokuala, Feb. 13-15.

After returning from the island, BYU will to California for three consecutive events in March. On the 10-11, they’ll tee it up at San Diego Country Club for the Lamkin Invitational.

The Cougars will then look to defend their title at the Bridgestone Collegiate held at Napa Valley’s Silverado Resort on March 24-25. Last year, BYU carded rounds of 280-285-287—852 to win the Bridgestone Collegiate by eight shots with freshman Cooper Jones, who will miss the next two seasons while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, earning his first collegiate win.

To conclude March, the Cougars will travel to The Goodwin in Palo Alto at TPC Harding Park from the 27-29. The last stop on the California swing will be in Santa Cruz at Pasatiempo Golf Course at the Western Intercollegiate from Apr. 14-16

One week later, BYU will compete in its second Big 12 Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Southern Hills Country Club. The NCAA regionals are set for May 12-14 followed by the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, California at Omni La Costa Resort.
