"We had a really good summer," said co-captain Casey Clinger. "Most of the guys stuck around Provo and we ran together every day. I think we've built a really good base foundation to work off of as we start the season. Everyone's heads are in the right place. We're really excited about the success we had at the Olympics, so we are kind of riding that wave. Overall, we are really excited and hungry."

The BYU men's team is ranked No. 1 in the 2024 NCAA DI Men's Cross Country Preseason Regional Rankings announced Monday afternoon by the USTFCCCA. The Cougars edged out Northern Arizona in the Mountain Region who was voted No. 2. The Lumberjacks have won six national titles in the past eight seasons.

BYU had its official practice of the season Monday morning then headed out to the team's annual cross country camp for the remainder of the week.

The Cougars' roster will be headlined by seniors Lucas Bons, Joey Nokes, Aidan Troutner and Clinger. Other athletes that will bring depth include James Corrigan who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games earlier this summer in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as well as twin brothers Davin Thompson and Creed Thompson who are prior All-Americans.

Following the Utah State Alumni Challenge, BYU will host the annual Autumn Classic held at the Lakeside Sports Complex in Orem, Utah on Friday Sept. 13. See the Home Meet Information tab for details.
