Alyssa Keller placed 12th overall in the final of the women's javelin with her toss of 45.84m/150-4.5 Friday evening. Keller qualified for the final after throwing 48.83m/160-2.25 Wednesday morning to earn the 12th and final spot in the final.

"This experience to compete at the U20 World Championships in Peru has been amazing," said Keller. "Not only has it been incredible to compete, but it has been crazy and so interesting to see and meet athletes from different countries. I am grateful for my Heavenly Father who has led me to this wonderful opportunity and I am excited for more like this one in the future" said Keller.

The freshman from Billings, Montana ranks No. 4 all-time in BYU history with her personal best of 51.86m/170-1 achieved May 10 at the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Carter Cutting

Carter Cutting

1500-meter

Carter Cutting placed fifth overall in the men's 1500-meters crossing the line in 3:43.36.

"First and foremost it was an honor to represent my family, team and country in Peru, and it truly was a dream come true," said Cutting. "Everybody anticipated a fast race with the Kenyans and Ethiopians to push the pace but it became tactical from the gun. Unfortunately, I got boxed in pretty hard and got shot out the back. I was able to pass eight people over the last 400-meters and secure fifth place. It wasn’t quite a personal best, but I'm proud of the way I competed and fought against the world's best."

Cutting has a personal best time of 3:42.81 in the 1500m that he achieved at the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships where he placed 12th overall.

Wyatt Haughton

3000-meter Steeplechase

Wyatt Haughton placed sixth overall in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase finishing in 8:38.34.

"Today's race went well," said Haughton. "The pace was out hot from the start and I just couldn’t quite hang on as the laps went on. I raced smart and made moves well. For such a long season I’m happy with the effort I gave. I wanted more than anything to medal but I know this is the last chance on a world stage."

Haughton's previous personal best time in the event was 8:42.91 he earned at the  Big 12 Championships.
