The BYU women's soccer team competed in its annual Blue/White game on South Field Saturday night, with the Blue team besting the White team 2-1.

PROVO, Utah - The BYU women's soccer team competed in its annual Blue/White game on South Field Saturday night, with the Blue team besting the White team 2-1. 

The scrimmage consisted of three periods, one 30-minute followed by two 20 minute sessions. The Blue team put up 19 shots with 12 on goal to the White team's 12 with 5 on goal. 



First Period

The Blue team struck first as Emma Hamberlin knocked in a shot to the back right of the net on an assist from Caroline Stringfellow. The goal came with just under two minutes left of the period. 

Both teams battled offensively through the first 30 minutes of play as the Blue Team outshot the White team 7-5. Each side had two shots on goal. 

Second Period

The White team tied the match 1-1 as Savannah Hansen found the top right of the corner of the goal halfway through the second period. 

Third Period

The Blue team took the lead 2-1 in the first minutes of the final period as Allie Fryer attempted a shot which bounced off keeper Kelsey Hoopes’ hands in a diving save. Erin Bailey secured the goal, placing the ball in the bottom right corner of the net.

The Cougars will head across town to face Utah Valley in an exhibition match at Clyde Field in Orem, Utah Wednesday night with the contest set for 7 p.m. MDT.
