"Nuttycombe is an exciting opportunity, because it's really the first weekend where we'll get a chance to see how good we are." said BYU men's cross country head coach Ed Eyestone. "There will be some good competition there. We should have a good opportunity to run well and win, but probably the most important benefit is getting the experience of running on the national championship course."

The Thomas Zimmer Championship Course will also be used later this season for the 2024 NCAA Championship held on Fri. November 23.

The Nuttycombe Invitational will mark the Cougars' start of the national meet section of the season schedule. BYU has competed in two in-state meets up to this point, taking first in the team category at both the Utah State Alumni Challenge and the BYU Autumn Classic.

Four-time All-American Casey Clinger is set to lead the Cougars through the race. Clinger is coming off of a recent win at the Autumn Classic two weeks prior where he finished the four-mile race in 19:39.02.

Olympian James Corrigan is set to make his season debut, having taken the prior two meets earlier this season off to rest from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Corrigan competed for Team USA in the 3000-meter steeplechase and was the only current BYU athlete among eight alums that competed in Paris.

After the Nuttycombe Invitational, the Cougars will take a week off before heading to the University of Oregon to compete at the 2024 Bill Dellinger Invitational on Fri. October 11 at 12:15 p.m. MDT.
