WACO, Texas — In a close battle against North Carolina, women's tennis athletes Bobo Huang and Kendall Kovick narrowly lost in the first round of the NCAA Division I Individual Championships.
The pair played a close two sets, one that went to a tiebreaker, but ultimately lost both.
"While the result could have been better, there were many positives," said Huang. "It was a long road to qualify, and Kendall and I grew so much as a team. My coaches and team have worked so hard and I believe this experience will make us stronger and hungrier. This was just the start of something bigger."
"I have always dreamed of reaching the top of college tennis, and this is just another step in the journey," said Kovick. "Although we weren't able to get the win, this was a huge step in my own personal tennis career, but it was also a monumental moment for BYU tennis and the continued success for our program!"
BYU men's tennis athletes Zach Fuchs and Wally Thayne also qualified for and competed in the NCAA championships, but they lost in the first round.
