Nelson earned BYU’s first men’s swimmer of the week award this season after winning three individual races and a relay in a 173-127 win over UNLV on Nov. 2 in Provo. In the 200 free, Nelson defended his own Richards Building Pool record with a collegiate-best 1:36.18. Nelson moved to No. 10 all-time at BYU in the 200 back with a winning 1:47.26, then took the 200 IM race at 1:47.36.

To finish the day, Nelson anchored the 400 free relay team to victory with a 44.02 split on the way to a 2:56.39 finish. The sophomore from South Jordan, Utah now has eight event wins just three meets into a return to swimming after serving a two-year, full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Puebla, Mexico.

Miller Lung earned her fifth and sixth wins of the young season in 100 and 200 breast races versus UNLV. The junior from Clovis, California clocked 1:00.99 in the 100 breast before finishing the meet at 2:13.09 in the 200 breast. Miller Lung also helped the Cougars’ 200 medley relay “A” squad to a win at 1:40.25 with a 27.20 split.

This marks Miller Lung's second Big 12 Women's Swimmer of the Week honor. She won her first following the February 2024 dual meet versus Utah.

Kleinman debuted in the season’s weekly Big 12 honors with wins over the Rebels in the 100 back and fly. The freshman jumped to No. 6 all-time at BYU in the 100 back with a 47.78, then posted the fifth-fastest 100 fly time in school history at 47.04.

BYU’s “A” and “B” squads finished one-two in the 400 free relay with Kleinman leading off the “B” squad to a time of 2:57.87. Kleinman clocked a 43.74 100 free leadoff in the relay, good for a Richards Building Pool record. The Gilbert, Arizona native is just three meets into resuming his swimming career after a two-year mission in Detroit, Michigan.

Nelson, Miller Lung, Kleinman and the rest of the BYU swimmers retake the pool at the Texas Invite in Austin, Texas Nov. 20-22.
