SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The BYU Alumni Association will conduct a “Cougs Care” service project at the Valero Alamo Bowl tailgate party on Saturday, Dec. 28 from 2-5 p.m. The BYU tailgate party will be held at Civic Park at Hemisfair Park in San Antonio.

The Cougs Care tradition started in 2019 when BYU played at Tennessee in Knoxville. The BYU Alumni Association partnered with the Knox Area Rescue Ministries on a coat and food drive. Since then, the alumni association has worked closely with the home team’s alumni association or a local charitable organization to collected items such as food, books, art supplies, toys, sporting equipment and other items to assist a charity in the home team’s community.

For the Valero Alamo Bowl tailgate party, fans from both schools are invited to bring socks, hats, pants, winter gloves and hygiene products to the tailgate. Donations will support Haven for Hope, an inclusive campus in San Antonio addressing the root causes of homelessness by offering programming tailored to the needs of the individual.

In addition, for those unable to travel to San Antonio, an Amazon Wishlist account has been established where fans can purchase supplies that will be shipped directly to Haven for Hope.
