NEW ORLEANS – BYU women's cross country head coach Diljeet Taylor was named the 2024 NCAA Women’s Cross Country National Coach of the Year Monday afternoon by the USTFCCA.
This marks the second time Taylor has received USTFCCCA National Coach of the Year honors (2020-21, 2024).
Last week, Taylor was also awarded Mountain Region Coach of the Year for the third time in her coaching career (2019 & 2020-21, 2024).
This season Taylor led BYU women's cross country to an NCAA national championship and three women to All-America honors: Lexy Halladay-Lowry, Riley Chamberlain and Carmen Alder. She has coached nine athletes to 19 All-America honors and her women to nine-consecutive top-15 team finishes at the national meet.
Taylor coached the Cougars to a Mountain Region championship with 52 points on Nov. 15. Five women earned All-Region honors: Chamberlain, Alder, Taylor Rohatinsky, Taylor Lovell and Carlee Hansen.
The ninth-year head women's cross country coach also led BYU to its second-straight Big 12 championship on Nov. 1 with 41 points. Halladay-Lowry, Chamberlain, Rohatinsky, Alder and Destiny Everett each earned All-Big 12 honors.
At BYU, Taylor has coached the Cougars to two national championships (2020-21, 2024), Whittni Orton to an individual NCAA title (2021) and her cross country squads to 30 meet wins.
