BYU Athletics celebrates AAPI Month with community event

In celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, BYU Athletics hosted an event named "God's Love Across Lands" on May 14 at the BYU West Campus Field, with performances, speeches, food and activities.

PROVO, Utah — In celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, BYU Athletics, in collaboration with the BYU Office of Belonging and the BYU Multicultural Student Services, hosted an event named "God's Love Across Lands" on May 14 at the BYU West Campus Field, with performances, speeches, food and activities.

Hundreds of members of the community gathered together to watch and hear from BYU Football head coach Kalani Sitake, Miss Utah 2023-24 and current BYU Student Body President Sarah Sun, Sefa Fuimaono who performed a traditional "siva afi" or "fire knife" dance, the Paulana Polynesia, a non-profit organization engaging and spreading the Spirit of Polynesia through song and dance, performers from Skyridge High School, BYU's FUSION, a celebration of the Asian cultures through dance and music, with emcee and Director of Football Relations Jack Damuni.
