SAINT GEORGE, Utah – Peter Kim won the 2025 St. George Amateur at St. George Golf Club on Saturday.
“I played very steady golf and made minimal mistakes,” said Kim. I scored well on the par 5s by making birdies on all of them which helped me end up with low scores. I am looking forward to the spring season and hoping to not only continue my steady play, but to catch a win.”
Kim carded rounds of 65-68–133 to finish 13-under par at the tournament. The Salt Lake City native finished two shots ahead of second-place Brock Porter.
Throughout the 36-hole stroke play championship, Kim did not record a single bogey. He carded birdies on five of his back nine holes in the first day of competition.
Other Cougars also competed in this weekend’s amateur. Freshman Jackson Mauss finished T-5 at the tournament after shooting 5-under-par. His play was highlighted by an eagle on his fifth hole of day one. Simon Kwon finished just behind Mauss at 4-under-par to take T-9. The Salt Lake City native had a successful second round where he made six birdies and an eagle. Tyson Shelley finished the event 4-over to go T-20.
