IRVING, Texas — Delaney Gibb was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. 

In two games this week, Gibb averaged 17 points on 40.7 percent shooting, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, a block and a steal in the Cougars' win over Houston and loss to then-No. 12 K-State. With four Freshman of the Week honors, Gibb has earned the most weekly awards in a season by a freshman in BYU history. 

 

 

In the matchup with the then-12th-ranked Wildcats, Gibb led the Cougars in scoring, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals on Saturday. The Raymond, Alberta, Canada native finished with 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocks and a steal. 

Gibb currently leads all Big 12 freshmen in points per game (16.56), field goal percentage (.474), assists per game (3.81), 3-point percentage (.390), 3-point field goals made per game (2.56) and minutes per game (32.75) this season. For this week alone, she leads the pack of freshmen in points (17.0), free throw percentage (1.000), assists per game (4.0) and blocks per game (1.0).

Just 16 games into her freshman campaign, the four-time freshman of the week has already cracked the BYU freshmen top 10 in points per game (2nd - 16.56), 3-point field goals per game (2nd - 2.56), free throw percentage (3rd - .826), 3-point field goal percentage with minimum 35 makes (4th - .390), assists per game (4th - 3.81), minutes per game (4th - 32.8), made 3-pointers (6th - 41) and steals per game (1.50).

Gibb and the Cougars have a mid-week bye before traveling to Lubbock to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, Jan. 18. The game is set to tip at 5 p.m. MT with the game streamed on ESPN+ and BYU Radio.
