WHAT'S AT STAKE || With a win, the Cougars would move to 2-0 against the Lady Raiders under Coach Whiting. BYU would also move to 4-2 this season in bounce-back games.
COUGAR ASSIST CLUB || BYU has assisted on 250-of-415 (.602) field goals this year and has had three or more players finish in double-figures in 11 of 16 games. In wins this season, BYU averages 17.2 assists in comparison to just 13 in losses. Against Houston, BYU assisted on 70 percent of its made field goals (23-of-33).
SECOND-HALF WOES || BYU started the year dominating the third quarter, but have struggled coming out of the half in Big 12 play. In five conference games, the Cougars are being outscored 19.8-15.2 in the third and 19.8-15.6 in the fourth while surrendering over 46 percent shooting in both frames.
VALUING THE BASKETBALL || Ball security is crucial for BYU. In their five Big 12 games this season, the Cougars have committed 20.2 turnovers and opponents are scoring 20.8 points off turnovers per game. In wins this season, the Cougars average 13.6 giveaways, 7.4 less than in losses, and give up 11 points off turnovers.
SOMETIMES YOU, SOMETIMES ME, ALWAYS US || The Cougars have had five different players lead the team in scoring so far this season. In the last eight games, Whiting, Gibb, Calvert and Davenport have each set career-highs in wins over Houston (20), Washington State (26), UTEP (27) and Utah Valley (20), respectively.
REBOUNDING BY COMMITTEE || Last season, Lauren Gustin accounted for nearly 40 percent of all rebounds (504 of 1,294). This season, Amari Whiting leads BYU in rebounding but only accounts for 14.9 percent of the Cougars’ 38.6 boards per game. In the win over Houston, Kambree Barber grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds with Calvert and Whiting each tallying seven, Gibb grabbing four and Brinley Cannon and Kemery Congdon each with three.

Texas Tech Lady Raiders || 12-7, 1-5 || Big 12 Conference
CONJOINED TWINS || Jasmine Shavers and Bailey Maupin are constitute the bulk of the Lady Raiders’ scoring attack. Shavers and Maupin average 14.6 and 13.8 points per game, respectively, accounting for 43.3 percent of Texas Tech’s points this season.
Shavers, a 5-foot-8 guard, does most of her damage inside the arc as she shoots 37.4 percent from the field and 27.4 percent. The junior also turns in 3.,5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
Maupin leads the Lady Raiders in assists per game at 2.3 while grabbing 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. The 5-foot-10 guard is a 38.9 percent shooter and has made 22-of-78 offerings from three for 28.2 percent on the season.
A DEEP SUPPORTING CAST || Along with Shavers and Maupin, Texas Tech has eight players that average between 3.6 and 5.1 points per game. In their last outing against Iowa State, Loghan Johnson was the second-leading scorer with 12 and Denae Fritz scored eight in the 71-58 loss to the Cyclones.
CREATING CHAOS || Texas Tech averages 18.6 giveaways per game, but still has a positive turnover margin by forcing opponents into 19.8 turnovers per game. Against a veteran Cyclone team, the Lady Raiders forced 15 turnovers and scored 10 points off of the ISU giveaways.
STRUGGLING IN CONFERENCE PLAY || The Lady Raiders entered Big 12 play with an 11-2 record, but have since dropped five of their last six. After beating Houston, Texas Tech has lost five straight to Arizona State, three-straight ranked opponents in No. 11 K-State, No. 17 West Virginia, No. 11 TCU and Iowa State on the road.
