NEW YORK CITY – Led by Sami Oblad, BYU women’s track and field represented in day one of the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invitational on Friday.
“I am so glad to see that our fall conditioning and training did their job,” Oblad said. “This race is a great place to start the season. I am stoked for the next few races and getting to run some relays with my ladies.”
Oblad won the 400m invitational after running a 53.18, which was over a half a second quicker than second place Piper Jons from Towson University. The 400m program all-time record holder from Stansbury Park, Utah is also set to compete in the 200m invitational tomorrow.
Emily Ellis-Dalley notched another top-3 finish for the Cougars. The senior ran a 56.20 in the 400m seeded division to claim second place.
Freshman Cortnie Barker took third after clearing 1.73m/5-08.00 on the high jump to add to the accolades for the Cougars.
