“I feel really great about today," said Barton. "In the preliminary round I got a personal best, but I had a very slow start in that race. For the finals, Coach Hogan helped me make some adjustments which helped me get a great start into the first hurdle. I tried to keep that momentum the best I could and that led to a big personal best. I still have a good amount to work on in between the hurdles which is exciting."

Barton crossed the finish in 7.82 of the final of the event for a new personal best. With his outing, Barton moves up to No. 3 all-time in program records. The multi-event athlete holds the school record in the heptathlon with a 5814 score he earned at the 2024 BYU December Invite.

"It was a fantastic day for the hurdlers here in New York. Our goal was to qualify as many of us as possible for the finals, and we succeeded in securing four out of the eight spots. We even claimed a couple of positions on the top-10 leaderboard, highlighted by Ben Barton's impressive top-three performance."

Logan Hubler clocked a career-best time in the event with 7.89 time. Hubler improved upon his personal best with a new No. 7 all-time spot in team records. He also holds the No. 7 spot in the outdoor records with a 14.01 time in the 110m hurdles.

"Logan gave us a glimpse of what he is capable of today," said sprints coach Kyle Grossarth. "It was great for him to get in a competitive final and execute a good race. He is trending in the right direction."

"The jumps squad was ready to compete this weekend!" said multi-events coach Tiffany Hogan. "We still have technical things to work on to hit some big marks. Overall, I am proud of the way they competed. Ben is figuring out his sprints and hurdles which is only going to improve his decathlon mark. Connor has been away from the high jump for 2 years. After winning the competition at 6’ 9” we moved the bar to 7’0” and he had three great attempts at his personal best. Ethan had a great meet and is consistently jumping at 17’ bars."
