NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The BYU gymnastics squad opened up its 2025 campaign with a third-place finish at the American Gold Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Classic, scoring a 194.625.
Oklahoma took home the top spot with a 197.550, followed by Auburn with a 195.950. BYU followed with a 194.625, while Nebraska rounded out the competition with a 194.475.
Three BYU gymnasts competed for the first time in Saturday’s competition. Jadyn Harsh competed on beam for the first time, scoring a 9.700, while Alilah Alvarado competed on bars for a score of 9.725 and Chloee Hoke scored a 9.825 on the balance beam.
With a 9.750 by Mya Kirkham leading the way, the Cougars earned a team vault score of 48.525. Three Cougars scored above a 9.800 on the uneven bars, with Ava Jorgensen earning a career- and -team high of 9.850 for a team bars score of 48.950.
Although the Cougars struggled finding their footing on the balance beam, Hoke led the Cougars with a 9.825 to close out the rotation, finishing with a team beam score of 48.400.
On floor, the Cougars showcased five new routines, including Kylie Eaquinto’s which earned a team-high 9.825. Eaquinto competed on vault, bars and floor in the Nashville Invite, competing as exhibition on the balance beam as she prepares for competing the All-Around this season.
