PULLMAN, Wash. — Despite a doubles win and two big singles matches from Chelsea Bluestein and Sue Yan Tan, the Cougars fell short of an on-the-road victory against the Washington State Cougars.
Doubles team Bobo Huang and Grace Levelston secured the first doubles match 6-3. Kendall Kovick and Chelsea Bluestein lost 7-6, but Maddy Smith and Hiba Heni won their set tiebreak 7-3 and clinched the doubles point for BYU.
Huang and Levelston lost their singles matches, but a 7-6, 6-2 singles win from Bluestein kept the BYU Cougars in the running. Tan won a first-set tiebreak and 7-5 second set, but Kovick's and Smith's singles losses gave Washington State the final two points of the match.
