The Cougars scored another home meet season-best with a 195.600 behind their season-best vault and floor rotations.

PROVO, Utah — With the help of the Cougars' highest vault and floor score of the season, BYU set a second consecutive home meet season high with 195.600.

The Cougars got second place with Southern Utah taking first and UC Davis getting third. BYU was led by sophomore Kylie Eaquinto who competed in the all-around and got second as she recorded a 9.8 or above on the vault, uneven bars and floor.

Sophomore Ava Jorgensen got the Cougars started, earning her season high on vault with a 9.8. She was followed by Eaquinto, who tied her season high with a 9.825. The team was rounded out by Deb Silva, who made her way into the 9.8 range for the second meet in a row.

BYU scored its season high for vault during the first rotation and led the three teams with a 48.925 going into the second.

Jorgensen kept the Cougars rolling as she began the uneven bars with another 9.8, which is her third in that range for the season. BYU kept the high scores throughout their routines scoring three more above 9.8. This included the high for the team from Eaquinto at 9.875, a 9.825 from Anna Bramblett-Wilde and a 9.8 from Addi Glazier.

This gave the Cougars their second-highest bar routine of the season at 49.050. BYU held a narrow lead at 97.975 to SUU’s 97.950 with UC Davis a couple of points behind at 96.475.

In the third rotation, Eliza Millar-Crossman scored the Cougars’ lone score above 9.8, with a 9.825. This was BYU’s lowest event score of the night, totalling a 48.400.

The T-Birds led after the third rotation by 0.4 followed by the Cougars and then the Aggies.

BYU had nothing but energy in its floor routines. With five scores that surpassed 9.8, the Cougars scored a new season-high 49.225. They were led in scoring by Brynlee Andersen, who scored a career-best 9.9, tied for the best score of the night from every team.

Andersen was followed closely by Eaquinto, who surpassed 9.8 for the third time in the night as she scored a season-high 9.875. Mina Margraf-Benson also recorded her season-high with a 9.825. To round out the team, Heidi Schooley-Meyers scored a 9.825 and Millar-Crossman tallied a 9.8.

Despite the season-best effort on the floor, the Cougars finished second-place, scoring their second-highest points of the season with a 195.600. Southern Utah won with 195.825 and UC Davis finished in third with 194.100.

BYU is in action next at the University of Denver on Feb. 8 at 7 P.M. MST.
