PROVO, Utah — Senior middle blocker Teon Taylor was chosen as this week's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday evening.
Taylor led the Cougars through two sweeps against No. 15 UC Santa Barbara, with 12 total blocks. He accomplished an MPSF season-high in blocks on Saturday night with 11 compared to UCSB’s team total of 3.5 blocks. Taylor also recorded zero errors over the weekend, including a blocking average of 2.00 blocks per set.
Taylor leads the Cougars in blocks with 45 this season, averaging 1.13 blocks per set through 12 matches.
This is the third POW honor for the Cougars in 2025, with outside hitter Luke Benson and Taylor sweeping both awards in the first week of the season. Overall, this is Taylor's sixth career honor.
