IRVING, Texas — Delaney Gibb was tabbed the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week for the ninth time this season on Monday after recording her first-career double-double against Arizona State.

With nine conference Freshman of the Week nods this season, Gibb has the second-most weekly freshman honors in Big 12 history. She has now passed Darianna Littlepage-Buggs of Baylor who earned eight in 2022-23 and trails only Ayoka Lee (2019-20) of Kansas State who holds the all-time record with 12.

BYU athletes have now accounted for nine of the last 10 Big 12 Freshman of the Week awards with Gibb receiving eight and Kambree Barber earning her first on Feb. 3 after her first career double-double against ASU.

Delaney Gibb led all Big 12 freshmen in scoring and was the second-leading scorer in the conference this week at 20.5 points per game. The Raymond, Alberta native also recorded 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.5 steals and shot 37.5 percent from three to lead all Big 12 freshmen in each category respectively.

On the road against Arizona, Gibb was the game's leading scorer with 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting to go along with five assists, four rebounds and two steals.

Three days later against ASU, the freshman again led all scorers with 25 points and four made triples en route to her ninth game with 20 or more points this season. Gibb also grabbed 11 rebounds, dished seven assists, swiped three steals and recorded a block in her first-career double-double.

The freshman has left her mark on the BYU freshman record book as she sits in the Top 10 of 20 statistical categories. If the season ended today, Gibb would become the all-time leader in points per game with 17.15, passing Shaylee Gonzales who scored 16.97 per contest in 2018-19 when she was named the West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year.

Gibb also sits second in total points (463) and assists per game (4.07), third in field goals made (161), 3-point field goals made (68), 3-pointers made per game (2.52) and minutes per game (33.7). The Raymond, Alberta native ranks fourth in 3-point percentage (.395; min. 35 made 3FG), sixth in total assists (110) and steals per game (1.63), seventh in games started (27) and ninth in total steals (44).

Gibb and the Cougars return to the Marriott Center on Tuesday for a senior night matchup with the Kansas Jayhawks as Emma Calvert, Kemery Congdon, Lauren Davenport, Kendra Gillispie and Kylie Krebs will be honored following their final home game for BYU. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT with the game streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast on BYU Radio with Jason Shepherd on the call.
