FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Mackenzie Miller Lung clocked two school record-breaking swims in the 100 breast on her way to another All-Big 12 First Team finish in day four at the Big 12 Championships on Friday at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.

Miller Lung entered Friday’s races ranked second all-time at BYU in the 100 breast at 1:00.28, just behind Katie McBratney’s record of 1:00.10 set in 2021. It didn’t take long for Miller Lung to etch her own place atop the school record board. The junior from Clovis, California clocked 59.47 to finish fourth in the 100 breast preliminary, completing her climb to the top of the 100 breast record board and becoming the first woman in Cougar history to swim a sub-minute 100 breast.

“I feel like I’ve been dreaming this entire meet” said Miller Lung. “Seeing my hard work pay off and then getting to share in that joy with my teammates is the best feeling ever. This is seriously the best week of my entire swimming career.”

In the final, Miller Lung sliced another 0.87 seconds off her prelim time to break her own record with a time of 58.60. At third place in the 100 breast final, Miller Lung secured her second All-Big 12 First Team finish of the meet. Through four days at the 2025 Big 12 Championships, Miller Lung’s list of accomplishments now include three individual school-record performances and two school-record relay times to go along with her pair of first team all-conference designations.

Following her Friday performance, Miller Lung surges to 16th nationally in the 100 breast over swimmers from Michigan, Louisville and Florida.

The Cougars’ 200 free relay squad finished the day with a performance rivaling that of Miller Lung’s. Halli Williams, Sarah Eliason, Emma Marusakova and Lily Flint combined to clock a school-record 1:30.81 as they took fifth in the relay championship. Williams led off at 22.83, Eliason and Marusakova followed in 22.86 and 22.62, respectively, while Flint anchored in 22.50. Their school-record performance knocked off the previous record of 1:31.05 set in 2011.

Through four days at Big 12 Championships, the BYU women have now rewritten four of five school relay records.

Addison Richards continued her strong finish to the season the program’s third-best time in the 100 breast. Richards worked to her way up to sixth all-time at BYU with a 100 breast personal best of 1:01.48 in the preliminary. The senior from Orem, Utah raced in the B Final and finished 13th overall with yet another improvement, this time to 1:01.10.

After over a year’s work to cut her time in the 100 back, Marusakova did so on Friday in the C Final. The junior from Zilina, Slovakia clocked 54.73 a season ago and finished 17th overall on Friday with a personal-best 53.98. Marusakova now ranks fourth on the program’s 100 back record board.

The BYU women enter the final day at Big 12’s with a seventh-place spot in the team standings at 551 points. The Cougars will look close the gap on sixth-place Utah when events resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. PST on ESPN+ with the 200 back preliminary.
