PROVO, Utah — BYU won its Senior Night meet while putting up a season-high 196.775 overall score on Friday night at the Marriott Center.
Three Cougars reached the 9.900 threshold in tonight’s meet. Senior Anna Bramblett-Wilde put up a 9.900 on the uneven bars, Brynlee Andersen earned a 9.925 on the balance beam and Kylie Eaquinto notched a 9.925 on the floor exercise.
BYU’s highest event score of the night came from the floor exercise (49.325). This matches the Cougars’ season high on the event.
BYU started its evening on the vault, where it recorded the highest score of the season with a 49.175 alongside several individual season and career highs. Deb Silva led the Cougars on the first rotation with her career-high 9.875. Mya Kirkham recorded a new career high, Ava Jorgensen took a new season high and Melissa Earl tied her season-high to help push the Cougars to their best vault score of the season.
The Sun Devils recorded a 48.950 on the uneven bars, putting BYU in the lead after the opening event.
Bramblett-Wilde was the first on the uneven bars for BYU, and she recorded a 9.900, her third time reaching the 9.900 threshold this season. Overall, the Cougars scored a 49.175 on the second rotation, their highest bar score since late January.
ASU notched a 48.800 on vault, keeping BYU in the lead. The Cougars’ score on the bars gave them a 98.35 overall to ASU’s 97.75.
BYU’s third rotation was the balance beam, where sophomore Andersen scored a 9.925 to lead the Cougars. Alilah Alvarado recorded a career high on the third event to help boost the Cougars’ total score. BYU earned a 49.100, its highest beam score of the season.
The Sun Devils earned a 49.025 on the floor exercise to give them an overall score of 146.775. BYU remained in the lead with a 147.450 overall.
The Cougars’ highest score of the evening came from the floor exercise. Eaquinto notched a season-high 9.925 to power BYU’s final floor score to 49.325. Every Cougar scored beyond the 8.800 threshold in the fourth rotation.
On the balance beam, ASU put up a 49.225 to bring them to a 196.000 overall. BYU won the meet with its season-high 196.775.
The Cougars will travel to Tucson, Arizona to take on the Arizona Wildcats at the McKale Center on Saturday, Mar. 8 at 1 p.m. MST.
