PROVO, Utah – BYU makes it second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament as the Cougars were named a six-seed in the East Region on Sunday evening during the NCAA Selection Show broadcast live on CBS.
The Cougars open play Thursday in Denver, Colo. against No. 11 seed and Atlantic 10 Champions VCU in the Round of 64. The winner of that game will play a second-round matchup on Saturday against the winner of Wisconsin and Montana.

Thursday will be BYU’s second all-time meeting against VCU and first since an 81-77 victory at the Kentucky Invitational on December 16, 1983. It marks the second straight season that the Cougars will face the champion of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
BYU is 15-34 all-time in the NCAA Tournament including a 3-3 record as a sixth seed.
Game times and TV designations for the opening round of the NCAA Tournament will be announced later.
