PROVO, Utah — The No. 6 BYU men's volleyball will be traveling to No. 14 GCU this weekend to face the Lopes from March 21-22, with both matches being broadcast live on Big10+.
COUGARS (14-6, 2-2)
BYU swept Harvard in matches on Saturday and Monday, winning in three sets and four sets, respectively. Luke Benson led with 36 kills while Niko Hales and Teon Taylor led with nine total blocks over the long weekend.
The Cougars remained at No. 6 in Week 10 of the 2025 AVCA National Collegiate MVB Poll. Overall, BYU has been ranked in the top-10 since February 6, 2023 for a total of 39 consecutive weeks in a row.
With two wins this weekend, BYU would tie its amount of wins from last season as the Cougars finished 16-9 in 2024.
LOPES (13-5, 2-2)
GCU has achieved four-straight sweeps, coming off a victory against CUI on Saturday, March 15. Before that, the Lopes dropped four matches in-a-row, including two losses against conference opponent Pepperdine.
Junior setter Jaxon Herr averages the third-highest assists per set in the MPSF, with an average of 9.61. The Lopes have also had three different MPSF Player of the Week winners, including libero Cooper Herndon (2x), opposite Jarrett Anderson and outside hitter Trent Moser.
COUGARS VS LOPES
The No. 6 Cougars are facing GCU in their third conference matchup of the year. The Lopes are currently on a six-game win streak against BYU, dating back to April 2021. This is also the first time BYU has been ranked ahead of GCU in the AVCA Coaches Poll during a matchup between the two schools since 2021.
