PROVO, Utah – BYU football hosted former players during its fourth annual Alumni Game as part of Alumni Day at Lavell Edwards Stadium Friday.

Approximately 2,500 Cougar fans watched former Cougar greats on the field again in Provo to remember the players of the past in a fun, touch football game. Players from the last five decades of BYU football all came together on both th Royal and Navy teams to participate.

The Alumni Game featured more than former players from across generations of BYU Football. The Royal was captained by Reno Mahe (WR/RB 1998-99, 2001-02) and Austin Collie (WR 2004, 07-08).

Players that played under head coaches LaVell Edwards, Bronco Mendenhall, Gary Crowton and Kalani Sitake all came together to take part in the event.

Navy ended up winning the game 25-20, coming up with a stop in the end zone to secure the victory.

Game Highlights
The Royal team took a 20-18 lead with just over a minute to go but Navy came back with a score when Charlie Peterson (QB, 1995-98, 01) hit fullback Fahu Tahi (FB, 1999, 02-05) in the end zone for a seven-yard touchdown to take a 25-20 advantage with 19 seconds left.

Royal got down to the red zone but couldn't come up with a score as Navy's defense held on the final attempt to the end zone, winning it 25-20.

Former defensive back Rob Daniel (DB, 2013-14) was the star of the game for Navy, logging two touchdowns and 80 yards on the offensive side and a couple of passbreakups on the defensive end.

Devon Blackmon, wideout from 2014-15, had three catches for 43 yards while tight end Moroni Laulu Pututau (2015-19) had 31 yards and added an interception on defense.

Linebacker Butch Pau'u (2012, 15-18) had another interception for the Navy squad while current running backs coach and former Cougar star Harvey Unga (RB, 2006-09) played mostly on the defensive side, snagging an interception as a linebacker.

Current defensive analyst and former safety Gavin Fowler (DB, 11, 14-18) stepped into the quarterback role to help out the Royal team and had 126 yards and a touchdown to tight end Matt Edwards (TE, 2008-11) in relief.

All-time leading receiver Cody Hoffman (WR, 2009-13) was back to his old ways, leading all players with 109 yards and one touchdown.

Garrett Juergens (DB, 2013-16) had two interceptions for the Royal team while Harvey Langi (LB, 2014-16) and Austin McChesney (DB, 2016-18)both had picks.
