SAN MARCOS, Texas — Jaden Roskelley leads the decathlon with 3889 points and Zoey Bonds leads the heptathlon with 3070 points after day one of competition at the Bobcat Invitational.
Men's Recap
Roskelley began the day with a 10.96 finishing time in the 100-meter section of the men's decathlon. The sophomore from Arlington, Washington next competed in the long jump and acheived a first-place finish in the event with a 7.31m/23-11.75 mark. He completed the day with a 14.42m/47-3.75 mark in the shot put, cleared 1.82m/5-11.50 in the high jump and ran 51.81 in the 400m. Roskelley finsihed the day with 3889 points through five events the decathlon and ranked first among his competitors.
Freshman Kaden Passey also competed in the decathlon with his fellow Cougar and finished the day with 3262 points through the five events.
Fellow freshman Hayden Gribble threw a 58.38m/191-6.00 mark in the javelin and finished with a new personal best.
At the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Jace Jensen clocked 53.82 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Women's Recap
Bonds opened up the seven-event competition with an all-conditions personal best of 13.60 in the 100m hurdles. The junior from Las Vegas, Nevada went on to jump 1.61m/5-3 in the high jump, throw 9.59m/31-5.75 in the shot put and run 26.15 in the 200m for a day-one total of 3070 points.
Freshman Summer Young sits in third position after scoring 2813 points on day one. Young won the high jump portion of competition with an outdoor personal-best clearance of 1.73m/5-8.
Cameron Bliss is currently in ninth place with 2651 points. The junior ran the third-fastest time of her career in the 100m hurdles with a 14.71.
