Twelve Cougars named to 2024 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team

IRVING, Texas — Twelve athletes from the BYU women’s soccer team were named to the 2024 Fall Academic All-Big 12 First Team.

A total of 882 student-athletes have been named to the 2024 Fall Academic All-Big 12 First Team. The team recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at Conference institutions who participate in fall sports. The sports included for the fall season are men’s cross country, women’s cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.

BYU men’s cross country (22) and volleyball (11) and Oklahoma State women’s cross country (20) led their respective sports outright while the Iowa State and Kansas football programs both tallied 37 selections each. The Arizona, Houston and K-State soccer programs garnered 16 honorees each. BYU combined for a Conference-best 83 selections across the five sports.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher either cumulative or over the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20% of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

For the Cougars, two seniors, two juniors and eight sophomores were recognized as Academic All-Conference members.
