Going 2-2 for the second-consecutive week, BYU beat Utah Tech in a Tuesday midweek, 12-7, before dropping a Big 12 series to UCF. The Cougars were run-ruled by the Knights in game one and dropped a tight 4-3 contest before salvaging the series with a 9-1 run-rule victory of their own in the series finale.

Ilove'a Brittingham (.500 batting average), Lindy Milkowski (.444), Bre Townsned (.429) and Aleia Agbayani (.400) led BYU offensively in the UCF series, with Brittingham and Milkowski hammering two homers apiece. Townsend, Maddie Udall-Woolley, Keila Kamoku and Hailey Morrow each sent out long balls as well.

Freshman lefty Jada Villegas earned the win on Saturday against the Knights. She appeared in each of the three games, putting in 3.2 innings of work and posting a 5.73 ERA with two strikeouts.

Gianna Mares started Saturday's contest, one of her two appearances in the series, turning in a 4.42 ERA in 6.1 innings pitched with three strikeouts. Batters facing the sophomore and fellow southpaw pitcher hit just .238 on the weekend, the lowest average among the Cougar staff.

Heading into the weekend, BYU ranked No. 12 nationally in home runs per game and No. 17 in total home runs, leading the Big 12 in both statistical categories. The Cougars proceeded to hit seven more homers in the series, three on Friday night and four on Saturday afternoon, including Kamoku's walk-off jack to complete the run-rule victory.

Individually, Brittingham was seventh in the country in RBI per game, 13th in total RBI, 13th in home runs per game and 19th in total home runs. She led the league in all four categories as well as in batting average and total bases.

The Cougars went 2-2 two weeks ago, dropping their midweek to Utah Valley before earning a series win over Iowa State in Ames. With just three weeks remaining in the regular season, BYU looks for a solid start to week 11, beginning with its final midweek contest of the 2025 campaign.
