TULSA, Okla. – BYU sits in 12th place at 47-over par after the first 54 holes of the Big 12 Championship on Wednesday.

“As a team, we started poorly,” head coach Bruce Brockbank said. “There have been too many big numbers. The course is awesome, it requires premium shots into the greens, and we unfortunately aren’t hitting enough of them. Zac has played some great golf this week. He has hit the driver like a champ. The challenge for the team will be to get off to a better start in the morning and see if we can put together a good final round.”

Zac Jones continues to lead BYU after day two, tied for tenth at 4-over par. Jones made four birdies on his back nine.

No. 4 Oklahoma State holds first place, with No. 5 Arizona State six strokes behind them. TCU, Houston and Kansas State rounded out the top five.

Senior Cole Ponich shot an 8-over 78, placing him tied for 51st.

Peter Kim is tied for 63rd and Simon Kwon sits tied for 66th. Kwon made an eagle on the the par 5 fifth hole. The junior is one of three individuals to make an eagle.
