MALIBU, Calif. — The BYU men's volleyball team is geared up to play Stanford in the 2025 MPSF Quarterfinals today on Thursday, April 24 in the Firestone Fieldhouse at Pepperdine University at 8 p.m. PT. Stanford defeated Menlo College 3-1 late yesterday evening in the second round on Wednesday, April 23 to advance.
COUGARS (19-9, 7-5 MPSF)
BYU swept Pepperdine in its final matches at home, winning in five and four sets. Miks Ramanis was named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Waves, totaling a team-high 32 kills with a .453 hitting clip. His 18 kills and three aces in the finale on Saturday were both a match-high and season-high.
Seniors Miks Ramanis and Benson recently earned All-MPSF honors on Monday afternoon, with Benson named to the All-MPSF First Team and Ramanis named to the All-MPSF Second Team.
The Cougars have not won an MPSF title since 2021, and hold eight MPSF tournament wins in program history (1991, 2001, 2204, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021).
BYU has also won five of its last six games played in the Firestone Fieldhouse, dating back to March 19, 2021.
THE CARDINAL (12-14, 4-8 MPSF)
2025 All-MPSF Second Team members Theo Snoey and Moses Wagner combined for 40 kills to lead Stanford past Menlo (21-25, 25-20, 28-26, 25-23) in the second round of the MPSF Tournament at the Firestone Fieldhouse.
After playing BYU from April 3-4, Stanford closed out its regular season with two upset victories over No. 3 USC on the road as well as two losses against No. 13 GCU to finish sixth in the conference seedings.
COUGARS VS. THE CARDINAL
The Cougars are on a three-game win streak against Stanford, and hold the 35-17 overall record. BYU defeated Stanford in back-to-back games in Provo earlier this season, winning in three and four sets from April 3-4.
The winner of tonight's match will play the No. 2 seed USC in the MPSF Semifinals on Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m. PT.
AUTOMATIC BID ON THE LINE
The winner of the 2025 MPSF Tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, being hosted in Columbus, Ohio in Ohio State's Covelli Center from May 10-12.
The 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Volleyball Championship will feature eight teams, with two at-large bids being included.
