TULSA, Okla. – The Cougars shot a 1-under 279 in their final round to finish ninth in the Big 12 Championship at Southern Hills Country Club on Thursday.

"This was a disappointing performance for our team," Director of Golf Todd Miller said. "The course definitely showed us where we need to improve. We challenged the team last night to build some confidence as we prepare for regionals and shoot a low round today. I am pleased with how they responded. It was deflating to finish ninth, but we are excited for what is to come. This is a great team and I know we all believe that we can advance to the National Championship."

Zac Jones led BYU throughout the week, finishing tied for eleventh. It marked his second-best finish of the season.

No. 4 Oklahoma State is taking home the title with their 2-under 1118, with No. 5 Arizona State 11 strokes back to take second place. Texas Tech, Houston and TCU rounded out the top five.

Senior Cole Ponich climbed 17 spots in the final round with a 2-under 68, finishing tied for 34th. He made four birdies on the day, accumulating 10 total for the tournament.

Peter Kim shot a 3-under 67 in the final round, highlighted by an eagle on the par 5 fifth hole. The performance helped BYU lead the field in eagles with two. Kim finished tied for 46th. Simon Kwon recorded his lowest round of the week with a 2-over 72. He made three birdies on the front nine and finished in 63rd.

BYU averaged a 4.80 in the par 5 category, the second-best score in the field.
