WICHITA, Kan. — BYU’s Parker Goff was named to the 2025 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Midseason Watch List, the Wichita Sports Commission announced on Friday.

The Buster Posey Award is given annually to the nation’s top catcher. Semifinalists will be announced May 19 with finalist voting beginning May 27. The award ceremony will be held at Wichita’s INTRUST Bank Arena on June 26. BYU’s Goff is one of 56 catchers nationally recognized on the midseason watch list.

Goff is one of just four Big 12 catchers to make the midseason list, joining Arizona's Adonys Guzman, Kansas State's Bear Madliak and Logan Sauve of West Virginia.

Goff has started at catcher for the Cougars 30 of 39 games this season and is batting .286 with 24 runs on 28 hits, six doubles, a triple and 20 RBI. The junior from Herriman, Utah is currently ranked second on the team in on-base percentage at .453 and third in earned walks at 23.

Behind the plate, Goff boasts a .991 fielding percentage with 209 putouts and 15 assists to just two errors. Thanks to Goff’s strong arm and quick release, BYU ranks third in the Big 12 with 13 runners caught stealing on the season.

"Parker is a hard worker who gets better every year," said BYU head coach Trent Pratt. "He can really catch, gets big hits and is a true team leader. That's what the position is all about."

The Riverton High School product has started 85 of 95 career games played at BYU with 63 runs scored, 88 hits, 20 doubles, four triples, five homers, 58 RBI and a .294 batting average in nearly three seasons. Goff’s defensive career numbers include 623 putouts on 685 total chances with 54 assists for a fielding percentage of .988.

Goff and the Cougars play game two of their weekend Big 12 series at Arizona State on Friday at 6:30 p.m. PDT with live coverage on ESPN+ and BYU Radio.
