PROVO, Utah – BYU fell to Texas Tech 7-4 in the final regular-season game of the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon at Miller Park.

With the win the Red Raiders finish the regular season at 20-32 and 13-17 in Big 12 play, while the Cougars fall to 27-26 and 10-20.

"We had a bunch of chances," head coach Trent Pratt said. "We were one hit away, one play away or a pitch away. It was a good series win and we are excited for a chance to go play in the Big 12 Tournament. Our guys know they can play with anyone and look forward to the opportunity."

Today’s matchup marked infielder Brock Watkins’ 199th career game, tying him for 12th all-time in BYU baseball history. It also marked his 192nd career start, tying him with Stephen Wells (2007, 2010-12) for seventh all-time. Cooper Vest's 116 career start is good for 16th all-time. 

BYU Highlights

Texas Tech scored first in the top of the second with four runs on three hits, a walk and hit batter for an early 4-0 lead.

The Red Raiders added to their lead in the third inning with a double to left field that brought another runner across, making it 5-0.

BYU got on the board in the bottom half of the fifth with a ground ball RBI from Matt Hansen that scored Bryker Hurdsman from third to cut into the deficit, 5-1.

In the top of the sixth, pitcher Jaden Harris kept the Red Raiders in check, recording back-to-back strikeouts before second baseman Luke Anderson fielded a grounder and fired to first to retire the side, holding the score at 5-1 heading into the bottom of the frame.

The Cougars cut into the Texas Tech lead with three runs in the seventh. Robinson singled to right, scoring Parker Goff and Crew McChesney to make it 5-3. Anderson then score Gambill, who had reach on a walk, with a sacrifice fly to left, narrowing the gap to 5-4 through seven. 

Two unearned runs in the top of the ninth by the Red Raiders finished the scoring at 7-4.
