LOUISVILLE, Ky. — BYU softball's Ilove'a Brittingham was named to the 2025 NFCA National Freshman of the Year Top 10 list, the organization announced on Thursday morning.
Named to the Top 25 list two weeks ago, Brittingham joins nine of the nation's top freshmen on the whittled down list.
Three finalists will be chosen on May 22 before the award, which honors outstanding athletic achievement among Division I freshmen softball student-athletes, will be announced on May 27, prior to the start of the 2025 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Brittingham, who was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year on Wednesday morning, led the league during the regular season in home runs (20), home runs per game (0.43), RBI (67), RBI per game (1.43), sacrifice flies (4), slugging percentage (.839) and total bases (130).
Setting a freshman record at BYU for most RBI in a season, she also tied the Cougars' freshman home run record with her 21st homer of the year on Wednesday night, a two-run shot that kickstarted BYU's shutout victory over Houston.
A Nipomo, California product, Brittingham ranked in the top 20 nationally in four statistical categories and paced the team in 10 offensive metrics.

The sixth-seeded Cougars will continue Big 12 Championship play on Thursday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. CDT, facing No. 3-seed Iowa State in a quarterfinal matchup on ESPN+.
