PROVO, Utah — Former BYU forward Emma Calvert has signed to play professional basketball with the Czech Republic club, KP Brno.
"I’m so grateful for the opportunity to play professional basketball overseas and represent BYU," said Calvert. "My coaches have all helped prepare me for this opportunity and I can’t wait to show the Czech Republic what I can do while representing BYU and its values."
Calvert was an integral part of the 2024-25 Cougar squad as the senior was the second-leading scorer at 12.6 points per game. The 6-foot-4 forward also contributed 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per contest to help the Cougars to 13 wins on the season, including an upset of No. 20 Oklahoma State.
"We are thrilled to be a part of Emma signing her first professional contract," said BYU head coach Lee Cummard. "She has worked hard and is now seeing the results of that hard work and a great college career. Her opportunity comes with a team in a great city that plays both internationally in the Eurocup and in the Czech league. KP Brno has expectations to win, and win a lot. We are excited to support Emma this upcoming season."
During her collegiate career, Calvert recorded the fifth-most blocks in BYU history with 138 and the sixth-most blocks per game with 1.16. She helped BYU to a 26-4 season and a WCC regular season title in 2021-22. Her Cougar teams also made three-consecutive trips to a postseason tournament, including the NCAA Tournament in 2022, WNIT in 2023 and WBIT in 2024.
