NEW ORLEANS – Behind a cross country national championship, BYU women’s track and field & cross country ranks fourth in the final U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Program of the Year standings, the organization announced Tuesday.
The USTFCCCA honors programs that achieved the most success during the academic year in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field, based on each institution’s finish at its respective championships. To be eligible, teams must qualify for all three championships.

BYU earned 28 points across the academic year. The Cougars placed ninth at the indoor championships, 18th at the outdoor championships and captured their sixth national title in cross country.
Lexy Halladay-Lowry played a key role in the team’s overall success. Under the guidance of coach Diljeet Taylor, Halladay-Lowry helped lead BYU to the cross country national title, placed third in the indoor 3000m and finished second in the 3000m steeplechase at the outdoor national championships.
