PROVO, Utah — Six members of the BYU women’s tennis team were named 2025 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Scholar-Athletes, while the team as a whole earned ITA All-Academic Team honors, the organization announced Monday.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must maintain a grade-point average of 3.50 or higher for the academic year and must be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
The Cougars also qualified as an ITA All-Academic Team, a distinction awarded to programs with a cumulative team GPA of 3.20 or higher. All student-athletes must be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letter winners are factored into the cumulative team GPA.
This marks the third consecutive year BYU has earned ITA All-Academic Team honors, further solidifying the program’s commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
Bobo Huang, a marketing major, earned the honor after finishing the season with a 19-3 singles record and receiving All-Big 12 First Team recognition. She also qualified for the ITA All-American Championships and was named Big 12 Player of the Week during the season.
Sue Yan Tan posted a 3.95 GPA while contributing in both singles and doubles play and securing key conference wins, including a straight-sets victory over UCF.
Madison Smith, a marketing major, earned the award while delivering steady singles performances and key conference wins.
Elizabeth Tullis, a public relations major, holds a 3.85 GPA and played a crucial role in doubles, regularly partnering with Grace Levelston. The duo earned several victories, including a strong showing in BYU’s win over Fresno State.
Grace Levelston, an economics major with a 3.87 GPA, made an impact in both singles and doubles action, highlighted by a three-set win over UCF’s Sophia Biolay. She and Tullis proved to be a reliable doubles team throughout the season.
Chelsea Bluestein, a sophomore from Naples, Florida, holds a 3.95 GPA while majoring in both exercise science and human development. She posted an 11-11 singles record and 15-8 doubles record in her first full season with the Cougars. After transferring from Iowa and recovering from injury, Bluestein became a key contributor in BYU’s doubles lineup.
The ITA Scholar-Athlete award is one of the highest academic honors in collegiate tennis and highlights the Cougars’ continued dedication to academic and athletic excellence.
