NORMAN, Okla. — Peter Kim, Simon Kwon and Tyson Shelley were recognized as NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars on Tuesday by Golf Coaches Association of America.

Kim, Kwon, and Shelley have shown excellence in their performance both on the course and in the classroom.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must hold a GPA of 3.2 or higher, must have participated in at least 50 percent of team events and have a stroke average lower than 76.0.

Kim holds a 3.2 GPA as a business management major. The junior participated in all the tournaments for the Cougars which included a first-place finish at The Goodwin with a 5-under 205. He also finished third three times at the Leadership and Golf Collegiate, Arizona NIT and 78th Western Intercollegiate, and fifth at the NCAA Regional. His accumulated stroke average is 70.0.

As a finance major, Kwon received a 3.48 GPA. The senior competed in all the events for the Cougars while earning two second-place finishes at the Arizona NIT and Lamkin Invitational. Kwon recorded a stroke average of 70.8 last season.

Salt Lake City native Shelley earned a 3.92 GPA as a communications studies major. With his stroke average at 72.5, the rising senior highlighted his season with a strong 5-0 performance to help the Cougars win the Big 12 Match Play.
